Local MPs take time to learn about, and train with the team

Local Plymouth MPs Oliver Colvile and Johnny Mercer were invited to inspect the new rescue Centre and take part in a team search and rescue training exercise on Dartmoor.

Johnny Mercer MP, said:

“I was honoured to be able to go out with the hard working and diligent men and women of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth.

“I was hugely impressed with the incredible work ethic and skill shown by DSTRP in undertaking such an invaluable effort to keep people safe while out on Dartmoor. Lest we forget, the DSTRP are all [almost all] volunteers who do this in their spare time making their work that more impressive.

“We are very lucky to have such an amazing natural landscape on our doorstep here in Plymouth, but we need to remember that it is upon ourselves to enjoy it responsibly and safely. However, should the unforeseen occur, there is reassurance in knowing we have the amazing DSTRP to help you out.”
